Update, July 2015

Dear Celebrating Saints,
Another school year has ended – the 12th year of the school.  What an adventure these years have been.  Four young warriors finished their sixth grade year last week but all have decided to continue with us under the distance learning umbrella of our affiliate in Quito.  2015 Jul The GraduatesThe parents and the children realize that the protective, focused training the students receive with us is necessary before launching into the harsh world.  We were blessed to have the parents´  sincere thanks and confidence during the reportcard conferences.  Praise God for how He is working through the children to affect the families. 2015 Jul Kingdom Warriors
2015 Jul End of Year Program  We do not know how many children we will have in the fall but we would like you, our encouraging friends, to ask the Lord if you are to be a prayer/financial supporter for one of these precious lives.   Your faithful prayers for a child will help them through the difficult times most of them face on a daily basis.  Training warriors for the Kingdom is a group effort.  God releases so much more wisdom, protection and blessings when His saints pray in agreement.  Please let us know if the Lord is directing you to join with us in this way.
Ministry opportunities are always before us – most are a result of a Divine surprise.   In late May, one of our helpers, Marcia, a young widow with two children, asked if I would please do a Bible Study with her and her extended family.  With one of our teachers, Ruth, we have begun a deep, soul-searching study of repentance, cleansing and freedom.  After 6 weeks, the group now numbers 10 adults.  It is my plan to hand this study to Ruth so she can grow in the spiritual leadership role that God has destined her to walk in.   A month ago, another young mother in the village became a widow.  God´s surprise was that her local family asked that we come on a regular basis to pray for and encourage her.  With Marcia and Ruth, we have started a healing time with the widow on an individual basis; but from the hunger in the extended family, I believe this will grow as well.
2015 Jul Unexpected VisitorA rather odd ministry opportunity literally stumbled into our village and to our home in mid-June.  Mark, an Englishman, was winding his way alone on horseback from Columbia to Peru when his horse suddenly pulled up lame at the entrance of our very obscure road.  He suddenly needed a place for his horse to recuperate and for him to stay and we could provide both.  Mark´s hunger for God, truth and understanding of the concept of destiny was amazing.  2015 Jul Mark teaching EnglishHe listened, absorbed and reveled in what we did at school as well as being part of our family for almost three weeks.  He could not get enough of our prayer times and nightly blessings.  Many seeds were planted; we pray they sprout soon and bear much fruit.
Mark´s goal for the ride is to visit small foundations in the Andean countries to offer them positive public exposure of their foundation´s work via his webpage and Facebook blog.   Through his pre-travel campaign to raise funds and interest for his trip he has garnered several thousand followers.  Although he had no idea we existed, God wanted Mark to be touched in a dramatic way and in turn, release SEA LA LUZ to a totally new audience.   Amazing.
2015 Jul Mudslide in OyacachiFinally, God had Dave and I participate in a community donation effort for a neighboring village called Oyacachi.   Last week, after the children were out of school, God allowed a slow-moving, six-lane wide river of mud, boulders, tree-trunks and debris to cover a major section of the village, including the elementary school and over 20 homes.  In His mercy, no one was killed or injured.  Our Tambo families immediately began gathering what we could to encourage and help those who lost their earthly possessions.  We were blessed by our people and the help that came from many other sectors of the area.
Many blessings to you, dear Warriors.  We appreciate your comments, news, encouragement and most of all your prayers.
Together for the Kingdom,
